Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026

1. About Tutorvine

Tutorvine Ltd ("Tutorvine", "we", "us") operates an online marketplace connecting students and tutors in the United Kingdom. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms").

These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Tutorvine Ltd. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

2. Eligibility

  • Tutors must be at least 18 years old.
  • Students may be any age. If you are creating an account on behalf of a student under the age of 13, you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian and that you consent to their use of the platform on their behalf. Students aged 13–17 may create their own accounts.
  • All users must be resident in, or able to legally contract in, the United Kingdom.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity under it. You must not share your login credentials. Notify us immediately at support@tutorvine.co.uk if you suspect unauthorised access.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, without notice.

4. The Tutorvine marketplace

Tutorvine provides a platform for students to book and pay for lessons with independent tutors. Tutors are not employees or agents of Tutorvine. They are independent contractors who set their own rates, availability, and teaching approach.

Tutorvine is not responsible for the content of lessons, tutor qualifications beyond what is displayed, or learning outcomes.

5. Booking and payment

When a student books a lesson, their payment method is authorised but only charged after the lesson completes. Tutorvine deducts a 20% platform fee and transfers the remainder to the tutor's Stripe account.

All prices are displayed in GBP and are inclusive of any applicable VAT.

6. Cancellation policy

  • More than 12 hours before the lesson: full refund, no charge to the student
  • Within 12 hours of the lesson: no refund. The lesson fee is charged in full
  • Tutor cancellation: student receives a full refund regardless of timing

Refunds are processed within 5–10 business days to the original payment method.

7. Conduct

All users must behave respectfully and professionally. The following are prohibited:

  • Harassment, discrimination, or abuse of any kind
  • Sharing personal contact details to circumvent the platform
  • Arranging or accepting lessons outside the platform to avoid fees
  • Submitting false or misleading information (qualifications, DBS status, reviews)
  • Uploading unlawful, harmful, or inappropriate content

Violations may result in immediate account suspension and legal action where appropriate.

8. Safeguarding

Tutors working with students under the age of 18 are responsible for conducting lessons in a professional and appropriate manner. Tutorvine requires tutors to comply with our Safeguarding Policy (available at tutorvine.co.uk/safeguarding). Any safeguarding concerns must be reported to safeguarding@tutorvine.co.uk immediately.

9. Intellectual property

Lesson notes submitted by tutors remain the property of the tutor. By submitting notes through the platform, tutors grant Tutorvine a licence to deliver those notes to the relevant student. Tutorvine's platform, branding, and code are the intellectual property of Tutorvine Ltd.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, Tutorvine's liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of the platform is limited to the amount you paid for the lesson in question.

Tutorvine is not liable for: indirect or consequential losses; tutor conduct; learning outcomes; technical failures beyond our reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or a notice on the platform. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Contact

For questions about these Terms, contact us at legal@tutorvine.co.uk or via our contact form.
